Compulsory Purchase Orders are provided to allow authorities to compulsory purchase land to carry out regeneration. Anyone who has land taken from them in this way is generally entitled to compensation.
Stoke on Trent City Council submitted a Compulsory Purchase Order for parts of the Coalville estate in 2008. The public inquiry was held on 8-11 July 2008. In December, we were notified by Stoke on Trent City Council that this Compulsory Purchase Order has been approved by the Secretary of State. All acquisitions were completed in 2009.
