Masterplan

The Coalville Masterplan was developed through consultation with community representatives, architects and other stakeholders all playing an active part.

It will constantly evolve to reflect the changing needs, priorities and resources of the community and will be used as the basis to achieve ‘the vision’ for regenerating the estate.

One of the main partners and funders of the regeneration of Coalville is Renew North Staffordshire who apply for money from the Government every two years.

In 2004 £2.75 million was awarded to Coalville for the period between April 2004 and March 2006.

In October 2005 Renew North Staffordshire wanted to submit the Masterplan as part of their application to the Government, for further funding for the North Staffordshire project.

However, before submitting the application, Renew asked the Compendium Group to revise the Masterplan so that it offered better value for money.

The revised Masterplan will see the majority of the 273 new properties, built for owner occupation. This will create a more sustainable tenure mix and will reduce the rented units to approximately 30 percent.

The original amount of public open space on Coalville will be maintained and it will be concentrated in one area, with facilities such as a play area and mini football pitch making it more accessible.
